Why does the capacitance get added when a capacitor is connected after disconnection? Why does charge remain constant?

Ex-A capacitor of 900pF is disconnected from a battery and then connected to another 900pF capacitor.

Why does capacitor after reconnection to another capacitor get capacitance 1800pF??

Capacitor behaves like a battery which charge and discharge abruptly. when charged capacitor is connected to another charge capacitance get added. charge remains same until capacitor get discharge.
