Why does the dye present in the ink gets adsorbed while the water gets absorbed on the chalk??

Solution

The ink gets adsorb on the chalk while water gets absorb this because adsorption takes place due to unbalanced forces on the surface. These forces are responsible for attracting the adsorbate particles on its surface resulting adsorption. In case of absorption, the water is able to penetrate the surface of chalk and gets spread thoroughly in the body of chalk, but ink is not able to penetrate inside the body of the chalk and just get adsorb over the surface of chalk.
