Elections constitute the very essence of Democracy therefore it is important to have free and fair elections.To ensure elections take place in a fair manner without the influence of any party/ government ,Election Commission has been made powerful. Its functioning is independent and it does not operate in a partisan manner.
This is certainly good and healthy for democracy as it restores people's faith in the electoral system. Election commission has reprimanded the government in case of lapses, has ordered repoll in case of any malpractice or rigging. It has ensured that elections take place in a democratic manner.
