Why does the magnetic field lines produced around a conductor depend on the direction of the current flowing through it.

Solution

the direction of magnetic field is given by Maxwell's right hand thumb rule. right-hand rule is just a convention.it is not a physical phenomenon. When we apply this rule to a current carrying straight wire the direction of the magnetic field is a result of this convention i.e counterclockwise instead of clockwise when viewed from the tip of the thumb
