Question

why does the object distance always be negative?

Open in App
Solution

Hi

Object is always placed left to the mirror (or lens). All the distances are measured from the pole of the mirror (or lens). As the object distance is measured in a direction against the direction of the incident ray, it is taken as negative.

Cheers!!
