Open in App
Solution

As answered previously...

During lightning, the temperature of the air in the path of lightning becomes very high. This creates a very low pressure region. The air from the other parts of the atmosphere enters this region with high velocity and this causes the thunder sound. This explosion of air causes shock waves in the atmosphere. These shock waves are heard even after the loud thunder sound.
