Question

Why does variation not affect the individuals? How does variation becomes a fast process?

Open in App
Solution

Variation does not affect individuals as individual organisms do not evolve during their life. They retain same gene. The gene mutates and variation takes place. Then individuals are selected and population evolves. The ratio of genetic types in population changes, but the individuals do not change. So, overall variation becomes evident in the population and not at individual level.

Environmental factors, population size and migration of new species make the process of variation fast.
