why doesnt a light ray bend away from the normal when it emerges out from the glass slab?(the light ray is entering normally to the glass slab)

it is because the phase velocity of wave do not change at angle 0 and 90.light is a electromagnetic wave.there will be change in speed of light but the direction of light will remain same.
