Question

why donoble gasses exist as monoatomic molecules

Open in App
Solution

Elements usually form molecules by sharing electrons with atoms of their own type to attain stability and fulfill valency.

e.g. H exists are H2 as it can have 2 electrons in outermost orbital.

In case of noble gases, their valency is already satisfied hence they do not need to combine with other atoms.
