Question

why dull surface of a copper utensil starts shining when we rub it with lemon

Open in App
Solution

Copper vessels look dull as a result of tarnishing and formation of copper oxide. Lemon juice contains citric acid which reacts with this oxide and removes it thereby exposing the shiny metal surface again.
