Question

why electric charge is scaler quantity?

Open in App
Solution

Hello!

Electric charge is a scalar quantity as there is no direction associated with a charge. It only has a magnitude. Polarity (positive or negative) need not be confused with the direction of charge. Electric field produced by an electric charge, however, does have a direction also, so that becomes a vector quantity.
