Though both the latitudinal extent and the longitudinal extent of the country are 30 degrees, the north south extent (3,214 kms) of the country is longer than the east west extent (2,933 kms).
This is so because the latitudes are always equidistant from each other but in the longitudes are not equidistant and the distance decreases as one moves from equator to the poles. As a result, the north south extent of the country is longer than the east west extent in spite of covering the equal number of latitudes and longitudes.
