Why graphite is a non-metal why not a metalloid because it show some properties of metals and other properties of non-metals?properties of graphite are -: 1. good conductor of electricity. 2.high melting point. 3.not lustrous 4. soft and low tensile strength.

Graphite possesses some properties of both metals and non metals as you listed. It indeed is exceptional, however the properties that list graphite as non metal are much more than the properties of being a metal. Therefore it is listed as a non metal.
