The provision of constitutional amendment was incorporated in the Indian constitution to ensure that the constitution remain relevant with the passage of time. Due to economic and social changes, some of the original provisions of the constitution may no longer be applicable in the future. In that case, governing the country according to the original provisions of the constitution may become impossible. To ensure that such a crisis does not occur, it has been provided that the constitution may be amended by Parliament through a due procedure whenever it feels the need to do so.
