Ferrous slats are formed in the presence of weak oxidizing or non-oxidizing agents whereas ferric salts are formed in presence of strong oxidizing agents.Now, HCl is a non-oxidizing acid.Therefore, iron reacts with hydrochloric acid to give ferrous chloride and hydrogen
