Why is a radial magnet used in a moving coil galvanometer? What is its use?

The concept lies behind the fact the magnetic field is supposed to follow the minimum reluctance path.
That is the the radial path when it travels through the air!
Therefore we are supposed to get the radial field that can only be obtained by radial magnets!
