WHY IS AIR CONSIDERED TO BE A MIXTURE WHERAS SALT AS A PURE SUBSTANCE?

Salt is a compound made of Na & Cl and it exhibits totally different properties than both Na & Cl. and cannot be separated by physical methods
Whereas, Air is a mixture of gases like N2, O2 CO2 etc. and does not posess any specific properties of its own.
