Why is decomposition of vegetable matter into compost called an exothermic process??

When the decompostion of organic waste or vegetables occurs the process occurs through the dissociation of many bonds or breaking of bonds due to which alot of is released . The energy released during breaking of bonds is more than the energy required to form a bond.

Thus decomposition of vegetables is an exothermic process.
