Why is electric potential is said to be the work done to move a positive charge but not a negative charge as flow of negative charges gives current
Electric potential of a point in an electric field is defined as the work done by an external agency on a unit positive charge in moving it from infinity to that point on the field.
The positive charge is chosen as convention. A negative charge will also give the same result but with an opposite sign as compared to the results derived using the positive charge.
