why is fluorine the most chemically reactive and nitrogen least chemically reactive in terms of its oxidising property-among Fluorine, oxygen, chlorine and nitrogen?
Halogens - fluorine, chlorine have 7 electrons in their valence shell and they readily react to accept an electron to achieve stable state configuration. Similarly oxygen has 6 electrons in its valence shell and can readily accept 2 electrons. Therefore these are much more reactive as compared to nitrogen which has 5 electrons in its valence shell.
