Question

why is fuse connected in series ?

Open in App
Solution

The function of a fuse is to melt and stop the current to flow to the household circuitry during overload or short circuiting. In series connection the current for the entire house pass through the fuse. So, when it melts and breaks down the circuit breaks and no current flows to the household circuitry. Thus, a fuse is always connected in series.
