Question

Why is it advisable to cultivate pulse crops in between 2 successive cereal crops?

Open in App
Solution

Pulse crops are leguminous crops. They contain nitrogen fixing bacteria in nodules of their roots. These bacteria convert free nitrogen from atmosphere into usable form. This makes the soil richer in nitrogen and makes the soil fertile. This way the next cereal crop gives a better yield. So it is advisable to cultivate pulse crops in between two successive cereal crops.
