It is difficult to demonstrate respiration in green plants as photosynthesis and respiration takes place simultaneously. The Carbon dioxide evolved during respiration gets used during photosynthesis. So when photosynthesis is going on it becomes difficult to show respiration. To show respiration the better time is night because photosynthesis ceases during night.
