why is it that in mesosphere the temperature is around -40 degrees and in stratosphere its much warmer and in in thermosphere it is even warmer?
thank you

Solution
The mesophere is at a high altitude and with increasing altitude the temperature decreases. This is due to decreasing solar heating cooling by CO2 radiative emission. The top of the mesophere is the cooldest part of the Earths atmosphere.
