Question

Why is left ventricle smaller than right ventricle?

Open in App
Solution

Left ventricle appears to be smaller because it is more muscular and thick. This is required as the left ventricle has to pump blood to the entire body via the aorta. In comparison the right ventricle has to pump blood to the lungs for purification, which is a much smaller distance and hence does not need that much force.
