Question

Why are our tears salty? Why are tears produced when we cry ?

Open in App
Solution

Tears are produced by the lacrymal glands in the eyes. They contain water, some proteins, and some salts. Thus, due to the presence of salts, they are salty in taste.
When we are feeling bad or sad our brain sends signals to stimulate both of the lacrimal glands together as a result tear comes from both of our eyes.
