Potassium permangnate is KMnO4. It consists of K+ and MnO4- ions. Permanganate is the general name given to the compound contianing MnO4- ion, that is, Mn in +7 oxidation state. If Mn is in +6 oxidation state, then it is called Potassium manganate.
