Open in App
Solution

Rutherford's model was a result of the gold foil expertiment conducted by him form which he proposed the model

Main points of this model are:

  1. There is positively charged centre in an atom called nucleus.
  2. The electrons revolve around the nucleus in well-defined path.
  3. The size of the nucleus is very small as compared to size of the atom.
As this model proposes that nucleus is at the centre and electrons revolve around it, it is called as the planetary model
