Open in App
Solution

During the formation of sigma bond, overlap of atomic orbitals takes place to a larger extent whereas during the formation of pi- bond, the overlapping of atomic orbitals takes place to a smaller extent.More is the overlapping of atomic orbitals, more is the strength. Therefore, sigma bond is stronger than pi- bond.
