why is the friction offered by fluids increases with an increse in the speed of the body?

when the velocity of a body increase in a fluid it came in contact with more fluid particles.the number of collisions between the body and the fluid particles are more at high velocity. so the friction(resistance to the motion of body)increases with increase in velocity of the body
