Hi,

Iodine is very much needed for the proper functioning of our body. The deficiency of iodine results in a disease named as goiter. Iodised salt is the major source of the iodine in our food. Hence, we should use iodised salt while cooking our food.

Iodised salt is mainly sodium chloride (NaCl).However it also contain some additives which supply iodine such as sodium or potassium iodide (NaI or KI) and sodium or potassium iodate (NaIO3 or KIO3).
