Question

why is tin used to electroplate iron vessels and containers

Open in App
Solution

Iron vessels and containers are deposited by a thin layer of tin by electroplating . Tin is resistant to corrosion and a thin layer of chromium on iron protects it from rusting. Tin coated iron vessels are also used for storing juice and pickles as tin will not react with the acid and withstand the effect of acids.
