Solution

1) The region between India and China has its own distinct set of cultures, languages and colonial legacy. This is unique from either India or China, hence the states of Vietnam, Lao, Cambodia are known as Indo China.
2) After a long struggle, Vietnam ended French Domination but as a result of the peace process Vietnam was divided into two-North Vietnam led by Ho Chi Minh and the South led by Bao Dai.
3) Ho Chi Minh fought for unification of the country and the US feared a wave of communist regimes, hence fought on the side of South Vietnam, but had to leave the country finally.
