Question

why it is not possible to see a diamond ring during a lunar eclipse

Open in App
Solution

For a few seconds just before or after the total solar eclipse, the sun shines between the lunar mountains at the edge of the moon's disc. This produces a brilliant spot of light which is diamond ring.
It is not possible to see it during lunar eclipse because at this time the earth comes between the sun and the moon.In this case entire surface of moon appears dark.
