why magnetic lines never intersect and why they move from north pole to south pole only and why in magnetic compass there are only 2 points north and south why not east and west
The magnetic lines of force can never intersect because they start from the North Pole and end at South Pole. On the line of force, if we take a point and draw a tangent to it, it will give the direction of magnetic field at that point. So if two lines intersect, that means at the same point two directions of magnetic fields is there, which is not possible.
Magnetic field lines are produced due to the intrinsic magnetic moments of the elementary particles of the material. It is the intrinsic property of the magnetic field lines that they emerge from north pole terminate into south pole.
The compass shows us the north. If we know the north, we can easily find the east. If we are facing towards the north direction, our right side will be the east and left side will be west.
