Question

why metal are not found in free state generally?

Open in App
Solution

Metal are very reactive and unstable. In surroundings, they react with other elements to form compounds to attain stability. Hence they do not occur in free state. To obtain pure metal they need to be extracted from ores. Like aluminium is obtained from bauxite ore or from cryolite. However, some noble metals like gold and platinum are non reactive metals, they can occur in free state.
