why moon isnot rotating around sun as it is having more gravitional force compare to earth?

According to the theory of formation of moon a protoplanatery object crashed into earth some 4.5 billion years ago and the debris from the crash of the two objects coalesced to form the moon and in that duration it only achieved orbital velocity to orbit around the earth and not the escape velocity to escape the gravitational field of the earth. This happened due to its proximity to earth which made the effect of earth's gravitational field more pronounced.
