Why nervous system cannot control metabolisim?

Metabolism is the process which is mostly controlled by the direct action of hormones of endocrine system. But the secretion of hormones regulated by the hypothalamus which si situated in the brain and governed by the nervous system. Moreover rate of metabolism depends upon the amount of calories we are consuming. Hunger and calorie intake is finely regulated by the central nervous system.
