why only red worms are used for vermi compositing.
Vermi composting is the process by which kitchen wastes are transformed into black nutrient rich humus by using worms and microorganisms. The worms that are mostly used in vermiculture are red worms.
Red worms are used in vermiculture as they can tolerate a wide range of temperature. They can process compost multiple times of their body weight in a day. No other worms can produce so much of composts per day. Also red worms love high level of moisture and oxygen.
