Open in App
Solution

Burning is also called as combustion. The combustion process or Fire is the result of an oxidation reaction which gives off heat and light. Three things are required in proper combination before ignition and combustion can take place are---Heat, Oxygen and Fuel. Any one of the thing is missing combustion does not takes place.

Oxygen acts as an oxidant in the combustion process and supports combustion (burning). Oxygen will actually feed a fire. A fire needs oxygen to spread and keep going. The amount of oxygen available for a fire regulates the rate at which it burns.

Hence oxygen is very very important for burning.
