Oxides are more commonly found as O-2 anion but superoxide is an anion particularly important as the product of the one-electron reduction of dioxygen O2, which occurs widely in nature. Its chemical formula O2−. Its name is dioxide anion as well. These are called as superoxides because these are most reactive among all oxides.
