Refractive index is the ratio of velocity of light in vacuum to the velocity of light in a medium. So, the unit cancels out.
Relative density is the ratio of density of a substance to the density of a standard substance (like water). Again, the unit cancels out.
Thus, in ratio quantities the unit cancels out, so, the quantity is unitless.
