Why respiration is important for animals and plants?
Respiration is important in plants and animals because through this process, oxygen is inhaled. This inhaled oxygen is used to burn/oxidize/break down the food (glucose). This reaction produces energy which is used to carry out various activities going on in plants and animals.
Plants and animals need continuous supply of energy to perform the vital functions necessary for their survival. So, respiration is a continuous process which make an organism able to meet its energy demand.
