Question

Why secondary rainbow is fainter than the primary rainbow??

Open in App
Solution

A secondary window appears outside of a primary window. When light entering a raindrop undergoes internal reflections instead of just one, the second reflection reduces the intensity of light and hence secondary rainbows are not as bright as primary windows.
