WHY SECULARISM IS IMPORTANT

1. Secularism is the cornerstone of any democracy.
2. In any part of the world where democracy exists, secularism must exist since a state which favours a particular religion/caste or colour will always find itself a civil war (as happened in Sri Lanka).
3. Without secularism, any country will not be diverse. If a country is uniformly homogenous, its cultural output suffers; secularism ensures existence of diversity and it prospers uniting the country even more.
