why sound can not be heard in space

there are two types of waves mechanical waves and electromagnetic waves.

mechanical waves are those which require material medium for their propagation.

electromagnetic waves are those which do not require material medium for their propagation.

sound waves are mechanical waves and require material medium for their propagation.in space their is vacuum and nothing through which is can propagate. thats why sounds cant be heard in space.
