Why sublimatory substances directly converted into solid or gaseous state without going in liquid state?

Substances which directly converts from solid state to vapour form are said to undergone the process of sublimation. Such substances have high vapour pressure which forces the molecules to directly go into the atmosphere and exist as vapour in air rather than in liquid form.
