Question

why sulphuric acid is used instead of hcl for the titration of oxalic acid?

Open in App
Solution

HCl is volatile and chloride ions interfere in the titration and act as a reducing agent whereas sulfate ions do not interfere in the reaction. Therefore sulfuric acid is used for the titration of oxalic acid.
