Question

Why the release of energy in the aerobic respiration is a lot than in anaerobic respiration ?

Open in App
Solution

Energy released during respiration is determined by the production of ATP molecules in the process. Since aerobic respiration breaks down 1 glucose molecule to form approximately 38 ATP molecules and in anaerobic respiration 1 glucose molecules forms only 2 ATP molecules. Therefore, aerobic respiration produces more energy than anaerobic respiration.
