Question

why tin foils are used in a gold leaf electroscope?

Open in App
Solution

Tin is a conductor and can be made into thin sheets. So, it is used to make the thin light leaves of an electroscope.

The leaves have the same charge on them when we charge an electroscope. As we know, similar charges repel each other. It is due to this that the leaves get deflected away from each other.
